Hi everyone. How are you all? I hope you are all very well. Today I came up with a new topic for you. The previous part that I discussed some of the basic steps of learning the guitar. Today I will talk about Hindustani Classical Music. We'll talk about the guitar again in a few days. One of the previous parts that I discussed 4 rhythms of hindustani classical music. Today I will discuss some more rhythms. I hope this part will be very helpful for you. So I request you to read the whole post without skipping any place. So let's get started.
These are the four rhythms that I am going to discuss today -
1) JHAPTAAL, 2) EKTAAL, 3) DEEPCHANDI TAAL and 4) ADDHA TAAL
JHAPTAAL : There are 10 matras in this rhythm. This is the Bol or Theka of Jhaptaal -
Dhi Na I Dhi Dhi Na I Ti Na I Dhi Dhi Na I Dhi. Jhaptayal is made in 2/3/2/3 verses. The first matra of Jhaptaal is SOM. That means you have to clap your hands at the first matra. You have to clap in 3rd matra and 8th matra also. Only show "empty" or "KHALI" on hand at 6th matra. So you have to clap three times and have to seen one blank.
EKTAAL : There are 12 matras in this rhythm. This is the Bol or Theka of Ektaal -
Dhin Dhin Na I DhaGe Thun Na I Kat Ta DhaGe I Terekete Dhin Dha I Dhin. Ektaal is in two rhythms. One is 3/3 rhythm and the other is 2/4/2/4 rhythm. We now see 3/3 rhythm of Ektal. The first matra of this rhythm of 12 matras is SOM. That means you have to clap your hands at the first matra. You have to clap your hands on the fourth matra and you have to clap your hands on the tenth matra. Only show "empty" or "KHALI" on hand at 7th matra. So you have to clap three times and have to seen one blank.
DEEPCHANDI TAAL : There are 14 matras in this rhythm. This is the Bol or Theka of Deepchandi taal -
Dha Dhin - I Dha Ge Tin - I Ta Tin - I Dha Ge Dhin - I Dha. Deepchandi taal is made in 3/4/3/4 verses. The first matra of this rhythm of 14 matras is SOM. That means you have to clap your hands at the first matra. You have to clap your hands on the fourth matra and you have to clap your hands on the eleventh matra also. Only show "empty" or "KHALI" on hand at 8th matra. So you have to clap three times and have to seen one blank.
ADDHA TAAL : There are 16 matras in this rhythm. This is the Bol or Theka of Addha taal -
Dha - Dhin Dha I Dha - Dhin Dha I Na - Tin Na I Tete - Dhin Dha I Dha. Addha taal is like teentaal. However, the method of playing is different. In this case, we have to say 3 matras out of 4 matras skipping every 2nd matra. Addha taal is made in 4/4 verses like teentaal. The first matra of this rhythm of 16 matras is SOM. That means you have to clap your hands at the first matra. And also has to clap your hands in the fifth and thirteenth matra like Teental. Only show "empty" or "KHALI" on hand at 9th matra. So you have to clap three times and have to seen one blank in this taal also.
