Classification Of Shruti In Indian Classical Music (Carnatic Music & Hindustani Music)

Hellow everyone. How are you all. I hope you are all very well. Today I came up with a new part for you. Today I will discuss a completely new topic with you. The previous part that we discussed is how we can improve our singing. I hope you like the previous part. This is the part we will discuss about "Shruti". I hope you like this part too.

First of all we need to know what is "Shruti"? As I said in a previous part, we have 12 swars with Sudhho swar & Komal swar in all. When we sing, we use each of these tones in one way or another. For example, a komal swar is using when singing a song. But our guru says, the soft tone does not match exactly. Being a little down. A little more upwards to match the suddho dha voice. That means this lower komal dha and upper komal dha are two shrutis. If you don't like listening to an artist's song, you have to admit that the artist didn't use the Shruti properly.

In classical music we can divide these shrutis into 22 parts.

When we sing, we sing in 3 different ways. When "Saa" is sung as a main swar, we called it Sadaj Gram. When "Maa" is sung as a main swar, we call it Madhyam Gram and when "Gaa" is sung as a main swar, we call it Gandhar gram. In the case of Sadaj gram, 22 Shrutis have been arranged in this way - 4  3  2  4  4  3  2. In the case of Madhyam gram, 22 shrutis have been arranged in this way - 4  3  4  2  4  3  2 and In the case of Gandhar gram, 22 shrutis have been arranged in this way - 4  3  3  3  4  3  2. The names of these 22 shrutis are respectively - Teevra, Kumudvati, Manda, Chhandavati, Dayavati, Ranjani, Raktika, Roudri, Krodha, Bajrika, Prasarini, Priti, Marjani, Khiti, Rokta, Sandipini, Alapini, Madanti, Rohini, Romya, Ugra and Khovini.

We are unknowingly using some Shruti, When we matching voice to a song. We like to listen to the songs of some artists for the proper use of this Shruti. I hope I have been able to give you some idea about "Shruti". I'm finishing this part here today. If you have any difficulty in understanding, please let me know in the comments box. I will try to answer all your questions. If you like my posts, please let me know in the comment box and follow me on this site. I will bring the next part to you very soon. You will all be very well and healthy. Thank you all very much.
